Six Nations 2018 Tips

THREE OF OUR 5 TIPS WON (10/11, 4/5, 10/11)! Here’s an archive of our Six Nations 2018 Tips – we made a tip for each week of the 5 weeks of matches. See how we fared below. Ireland won the 2018 Six Nations, winning the Grand Slam in the process.

Six Nations 2018 Tips: Week 1

We have a Six Nations 2018: Week 1 Most Value Tip. Six Nations 2018 takes place between Saturday 3rd February and Saturday 17th March 2018 between England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, & Wales.

  • England won the last 2 tournaments (2017 & 2016), Ireland won the 2 before that (2015 & 2014), and Wales won the 2 before those (2013 & 2012).
  • Apart from the overall championship trophy, teams also contest the Triple Crown (Eng, Ire, Sco, Wal), Calcutta Cup (Eng v Sco), Millennium Trophy (Eng v Ire), Centenary Quaich (Ire v Sco), and Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy (Fra v Ita).

Our Six Nations 2018: Week 1 Most Value Tip is for Scotland (away) to beat Wales (6/5 at Sun Bets. Odds checked on 9th January 2018, but may change at any time). This match is the 1st match of Week 1 (3-4 February 2018) kicking off at 2.15pm on Saturday 3rd February 2018. Out of all the home win/draw/away win prices for Week 1, we think this is the most value.

IT’S TOO LATE TO PLACE A BET!!! Our tip didn’t win – Wales beat Scotland.

Six Nations 2018 Tips: Week 2

What’s our Six Nations 2018 England v Wales Tip? Week 2 of the Six Nations 2018 takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th February 2018.

  • Eddie Jones has beaten Wales three out of three times, since he has been in charge of England. Current Wales coach New Zealander Warren Gatland was not in charge for the last of these, but was for the first 2.
    • Six Nations 2016: 25-21 win at Twickenham – WIN BY 4 POINTS
    • Mid-year test 2016: 27-13 win at Twickenham – WIN BY 14 POINTS
    • Six Nations 2017: 21-16 win at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff – WIN BY 5 POINTS
  • In Week 1 of the Six Nations 2018, Wales and England had comfortable wins (versus Scotland and Italy respectively).
  • After Week 1 England and Wales both have 5 points, with Ireland on 4 points. France have 1 point, with Scotland and Italy yet to register a point. Since the 2017 Championship: 4 points are awarded for a win, or 2 for a draw. There is also 1 additional bonus point if a team scores 4 or more tries in a match (regardless if they win, draw, or lose). There is also 1 additional bonus point if a team loses by 7 or less points. There are 3 additional points for winning a Grand Slam (i.e. a team wins all its games) to ensure they finish top of the table.
  • Whilst Australian Eddie Jones has been coaching England (first match: 6th February 2016), they have never lost at home. Infact they have only lost 1 match, that was away to Ireland in the 2017 Six Nations – even then they still won the Six Nations that year.
  • Eddie Jones has led England to the Six Nations twice out of 2 possible opportunities (2016, 2017).
  • Eddie Jones’ overall record for England (not just in the Six Nations) is 23 wins and 1 loss, coming into this match.

We can’t see any other result than an England victory. However, we think there is immense value in the handicap market. Our Six Nations 2018 England v Wales Tip (4.45pm, on Saturday 10th February 2018) is for Wales (away) to beat England at Twickenham with a +11.5 handicap (10/11 at Sun Bets. Odds checked on 9th February 2018, but may change at any time).

IT’S TOO LATE TO PLACE A BET!!! Our tip won – England won by only 6 points!

Six Nations 2018 Tips: Week 3

Scotland v England will be the final match of Week 3 in the 2018 Six Nations. It will start at 4.45pm on Saturday 24th February 2018, and takes place at Murrayfield Stadium (Edinburgh). The teams will be competing for the Calcutta Cup. Let’s look at the key statistics, before coming up with our Six Nations 2018 Scotland v England Tip.

  • Scotland last beat England in the Six Nations back in 2008.
  • England have beaten Scotland 8 times in the Six Nations between 2009 and 2017 (the only exception was in 2010, when the match was a draw).
  • This tournament is Scotsman Gregor Townsend’s first Six Nations as Head Coach of Scotland. Eddie Jones has faced Scotland as England Head Coach twice, both times in the Six Nations – recording victories in both. In fact his first ever match as England Head coach was a victory against Scotland.
  • In the 2017 Six Nations, England thumped Scotland 61-21 – although this was at Twickenham.
  • England’s previous three Six Nations results at Murrayfield have been WINS:
    • 2016 9-15
    • 2014 0-20
    • 2012 6-13
  • Scotland have had mixed fortunes in the first two weeks of the 2018 Six Nations – a heavy defeat away to Wales, was followed by a home win versus France.
    • Week 1: Wales 34 – 7 Scotland
    • Week 2: Scotland 32 – 26 France
  • England have been more impressive with two wins. However, of course they were expected to beat Italy, but their match against Wales was controversial due to a TMO decision that went against Wales.
    • Week 1: Italy 15 – 46 England
    • Week 2: England 12 – 6 Wales
  • Overall, for our Six Nations 2018 Scotland v England Tip we see great value on England with a -7.5 handicap to beat Scotland (2 way handicap market) available at 5/6 at Sun Bets (odds checked on 23rd February 2018, but may change at any time).

IT’S TOO LATE TO PLACE A BET!!! Our tip didn’t win – Scotland shocked England with a victory!

Six Nations 2018 Tips: Week 4

We have a Six Nations 2018 Ireland v Scotland Tip, for this Week 4 Six Nations 2018 crunch match which kicks-off at 2.15pm on Saturday 10th March 2018. It will take place at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

  • Gregor Townsend is yet to face Ireland as head coach of Scotland.
  • Josef Schmidt has been head coach of Ireland, in five matches against Scotland so far. One of these was when Ireland beat Scotland 28-22 in a test match in Dublin in 2015. The other four matches were in the Six Nations:
    • 2014 Ireland WON BY 22 POINTS 28-6 (Dublin)
    • 2015 Ireland WON BY 30 POINTS 10-40 (Edinburgh)
    • 2016 Ireland WON BY 10 POINTS 35-25 (Dublin)
    • 2017 Scotland WON BY 5 POINTS 27-22 (Edinburgh)
  • After Week 3, Ireland lead the Six Nations 2018 standings with their 14 points – a 5 point lead over 2nd placed England, and a 6 point lead over 3rd placed Scotland. In Week 5, the final week of this season’s competition, Scotland are away to Italy, whilst England host Ireland. So, it’s clear why Ireland v Scotland is such an important match, in the context of winning this year’s competition.
  • Scotland heavily lost away to Wales in the opening Week, but then things turned around – they recorded a 6 point Week 2 victory at home to France, and shocked England at Murrayfield winning by 12 points in Week 3. In their three matches so far, Ireland narrowly beat France in Saint-Denis in the opening week, comfortably beat Italy in Dublin in Week 2, and won against Wales in Dublin by 10 points in Week 3.
  • For our Six Nations 2018 Ireland v Scotland Tip, we see great value for Ireland to win with a -9.5 Handicap in Sun Bet’s 2 way handicap market for this match (4/5 – odds checked on 9th March 2018, but may change at any time).

IT’S TOO LATE TO PLACE A BET!!! Our tip won – Ireland beat Scotland by 20 points!

Six Nations 2018 Tips: Week 5

We have a Six Nations 2018 England v Ireland Tip. The match kicks off at 2:45pm on Saturday 17th March 2018. This Week 5 match, for the Millennium Trophy, will take place at Twickenham Stadium.

  • Ireland won the 2018 Six Nations with a week to spare, in Week 4. Victory in Week 5 will mean they will win the Grand Slam (victory in all their games), and the Triple Crown (victory against the other three Home Nations).
  • Since New Zealander Josef Schmidt has been the head coach of Ireland, Ireland have won the Six Nations twice (2014, and 2015) – however, neither of these was with a Grand Slam.
    • As the head coach of Ireland, Josef Schmidt has faced England 2 times (and won both times) at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin:
      • 2015 Six Nations: Ireland 19 – 9 England – Ireland won by 10 points
      • 2017 Six Nations: Ireland 13 – 9 England – Ireland won by 4 points
    • However, as the head coach of Ireland, Josef Schmidt has met England 3 times at Twickenham, and lost all 3 times:
      • 2014 Six Nations: England 13 – 10 Ireland – England won by 3 points
      • 2015: England 21 – 13 Ireland – England won by 8 points (NOT a Six Nations match)
      • 2016 Six Nations: England 21 – 10 Ireland – England won by 11 points
    • For the 2016 and 2017 matches above, current England head coach Eddie Jones was in charge of England.
  • Last year, in 2017, when England won the Six Nations for a second year in a row, Ireland famously denied England a second consecutive Grand Slam in the final Week with a 13-9 victory at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. England will surely be looking for revenge for this, as well as rescuing some pride after their unsuccessful 2018 defence of their 2016 and 2017 titles.
  • In the 2018 Six Nations:
    • England started off by thrashing Italy away, followed by a 6 point home win against Wales. However, this was followed by 2 away losses – first to Scotland, then to France.
    • Ireland had a narrow 2 point victory away to France in Week 1, followed by 3 consecutive comfortable home wins against Italy, Wales, and Scotland.

This is a difficult match to call. We expect this to be a close contest, but think England will ultimately come up short. For our Six Nations 2018 England v Ireland Tip, we see great value in Ireland to win (home/draw/away market) at 10/11 with Sun Bets (odds checked on 16th March 2018, but may change at any time).

IT’S TOO LATE TO PLACE A BET!!! Our tip won – Ireland beat England, thereby winning the Grand Slam!
