Formula 1 driver contracts 2025: Line-ups, deals, end dates for every team this year

The Formula 1 driver market is always active.

Teams are constantly on the lookout for any possible moves, premature termination of a contract or the end of a deal.

Developments in the paddock are constant, with ongoing discussions held that could lead to changes at any point.

The Sporting News collates how long the current crop of F1 drivers have contracts for.

Red Bull Racing

As long as Red Bull has a competitive car, the Austrian-based team can keep the most talented driver on the grid under their wing. Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion, has a contract until 2028. Liam Lawson replaces Checo Pérez on a one-year contract.

Ferrari

In 2025, Ferrari is making a statement, with Lewis Hamilton replacing Carlos Sainz. The Briton will be joined by Charles Leclerc, who is entering his seventh season with the famous Italian team.

McLaren

McLaren has retained the 2024 line-up with which it won the constructors’ championship: Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The Woking-based team has two competitive drivers, arguably without a clear number one.

Mercedes

With Lewis Hamilton’s departure to Ferrari, George Russell becomes the face of Mercedes. The Englishman is accompanied by Kimi Antonelli, who is having his first experience in the top flight of Formula racing.

Alpine

After employing an all-French duo, Alpine has opted for change. Jack Doohan will make his F1 debut after a couple of years as the team’s reserve driver. The young Australian will look to grow alongside Pierre Gasly, who remains the team leader.

Racing Bulls

Red Bull’s ‘B-team’ keeps Yuki Tsunoda for a fifth consecutive season and adds a young talent in Isack Hadjar. The Frenchman, of Algerian roots, was runner-up in Formula 2 last year.

Aston Martin

F1 veteran Fernando Alonso has his future secured with Aston Martin through to 2026. Lance Stroll’s contract is also locked in for a further two seasons, although his father’s ownership of the team gives him even more security.

Williams

After time at McLaren and Ferrari, Carlos Sainz has joined Williams on a multi-year contract. The Spaniard will work alongside Alex Albon, who enters his fourth consecutive season with the team. The Thai driver will likely become the second driver.

Sauber

After failing to deliver in past campaigns with Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, Sauber (A.K.A. Stake F1) is fielding two new drivers for 2025. Nico Hulkenberg has left Haas to join the team, while Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto will make his F1 debut after being crowned F2 champion in 2024.

Haas

Haas enters the 2025 season with two new drivers: Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman. The Frenchman, with a past at Alpine and Racing Point, is looking to relaunch his career, while the Briton enters his first full season in F1 after previous experience with Ferrari and Haas.
