The UEFA Champions League begins the proper knockout stage in March with the Round of 16, the draw for which took place on February 1.
The final eight teams secured their spots in this stage of the tournament after coming through the knockout-round playoffs, with Real Madrid's 6-3 aggregate win over Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain’s 10-0 obliteration of Brest the most notable results.
The likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal had already reached the Round of 16 by virtue of finishing in the top eight positions of the league phase, a new addition to this season’s competition. From here on out, fans will be on more familiar footing: each knockout stage sees teams paired in two-legged matchups, the winner of which goes on to the next round.
