WBC Interim heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs) has called out Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) as he continues to search for his next fight.
The 32-year-old German said, “I keep saying the fight against Anthony Joshua, I think the whole boxing world, everyone from everywhere, wants to see it.”
The undefeated Kabayel has won his last five fights by knockout, including wins over Arslanbek Makhmudov (TKO 4), Frank Sanchez (KO 7), and Zhilei Zhang (KO 6).
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn recently reported that Anthony Joshua was nursing an injury, but will be aiming to return to the ring by late summer.
That could be perfect timing for Kabayel, having last fought in February. The German climbed off the canvas in round five to stop Chinese powerhouse Zhilei Zhang in the sixth stanza.
Kabayel first became a WBC champion in his 10th fight, 11 years ago in 2014, when he won the WBC Mediterranean heavyweight title via a narrow split decision win.
He became a European Union champion in 2016, then instantly went one better to win the European belt in 2017, which he defended three times, then later won a second time in 2023.
